Borealis Basecamp began with a passionate Alaskan wanting to share unforgettable scenery, people, and adventures with the rest of the world. Inspired by a goal of providing the best immersive experience in North America, this dream became reality.
We are a 40 room aurora focused resort North of Fairbanks, Alaska. We offer 2 night, 3 night, and 4 night packages which include transport from the city of Fairbanks, a variety of experiences, and prime aurora viewing accommodations.

Welcome to Borealis Basecamp! We built our home on a remote ridgeline just 25 miles from Fairbanks, a one-of-a-kind location meticulously chosen for its unobstructed, light-pollution-free views of the Northern Lights. This is more than a destination; we believe in creating a deeply personal journey into the wild, built on wonder. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the warmth of our heartfelt hospitality—thoughtful, relaxed, and always personal. We believe in welcoming everyone like family, no matter who you are or where you have come from.
Our unique accommodations are designed to connect you directly with the celestial dance above. You can chase the aurora from the comfort of a cozy bed inside our modern fiberglass igloos, which feature clear, curved windows stretching 16 feet across the roof. You can also settle into one of our modern Cube rooms, featuring a full wall of “Arctic glass” for optimal aurora viewing. By day, the adventure continues with thrilling dog sledding tours or reindeer walks. As evening arrives, savor elevated Alaska cuisine before settling in to watch the breathtaking spectacle of the Northern Lights unfold.
Owned and operated by Alaskans, the property opened in 2017 with 6 glass-domed igloos featuring incredible aurora borealis viewing opportunities for overnight guests. It has since expanded to include eight “cube” accommodations and a “cube suite,” which are modern guest rooms, featuring a full wall of “Arctic glass” on the northeast end for optimal aurora viewing.
Where We Are
Just 25 miles from the city of Fairbanks, Alaska, Borealis Basecamp offers an experience unlike any other. Here on 100 acres of pristine boreal forest, we’re immersed within the Alaskan wilderness. At night, outside and inside blend together in transparent swirls of light and dark. View the dancing lights of the aurora borealis from a modern geodesic igloo or luxurious cube, explore the rugged landscape, and understand the allure of the far north.
