Epic Adventuring

The Borealis Basecamp experience includes an active sampler of life in the Last Frontier. Launch into miles of wilderness via dogsled or snow machine, or take a hike through the quiet forest with no sound except for the wind in the treetops. At the end of the day, return to your dome refreshed and physically energized by the wonders of Alaska’s longest season.

White Mountains Snowmachine Experience

Experience the White Mountains on this all inclusive six hour long tour through the Alaskan backcountry. Gear up with an experienced guide and ride snowmachines down the Trans Alaskan Pipeline until you reach Wickersham Dome nestled in the White Mountains. Stop for a hot lunch consisting of sandwiches, chips, and coffee before returning to the main lodge.

Mushing

Mushing is Alaska’s state sport, and Borealis Basecamp guests have the opportunity to experience the thrill of dogsledding. During the hourlong ride, guests will travel along a section of the 800-mile TransAlaskan Pipeline, passing through an active trapline. A mushing guide will describe life along the rugged trail as the sled dog team swings through the snowy forest.

SnowMachine

Snow machines make ordinary backcountry travel feel like an adventure. Guests can take a guided trip across the snowy surface, with photo-op stops at the TransAlaska Pipeline and other notable natural features along the trail. No experience? No problem. Every snow machine trip includes gear and an introductory lesson, plus a savvy guide to assist guests along every mile of the trip.

Experience Reindeer Greeting

On this 30 minute long tour, you have the chance to meet Jim and Dwight, our resident reindeer. They are Alaskan born reindeer, born in May of 2020. Jim and Dwight live at Basecamp year round in their large enclosure, living on a diet of reindeer feed and treats such as carrots and willow leaves. Your tour guide will show you how Jim and Dwight live year round and give you the opportunity to feed and take photos with our reindeer.

Private Guided Arctic Circle Tour

Our tour guide will pick you up from Borealis Basecamp for a day long drive up to the Arctic Circle. On this tour, relax and enjoy the view!

Tour includes your private vehicle, personal tour guide, an Arctic Circle Traveler Certificate and a host of wonderful stories about interior Alaska.

Wood Fired Sauna

Relax in our wood fired sauna!

Snow Coach Tours

On this 2 hour long tour, you will ride along the ‘fire break’ in front of Borealis Basecamp in a heated cab in our snow coach. The fire break was created 7 years ago as a way to keep fires from crossing one side of the forest to another, and now provides us with a beautiful open space up to view animal tracks or, if you’re lucky, see some wild animals!

Halfway through the tour you will come to a scenic viewpoint, where your guide will pour you a drink (champagne, local beer, or a soda of your choice), which you can drink while watching the sunset.

ATV Tours

ATV’s make ordinary backcountry travel feel like an adventure. Guests can take a guided trip through the boreal forests, with photo-op stops at the TransAlaska Pipeline, picturesque overlooks and other notable natural features along the trail. No experience? No problem. Every ATV trip includes gear and an introductory lesson, plus a savvy guide to assist guests along every mile of the trip.

Dog Kart

During the half-hour to hour ride (weather dependent), guests will travel along a section of the 800-mile TransAlaskan Pipeline, passing through an active trapline. A mushing guide will describe life along the rugged trail as the dog team swings through the boreal forest.
