Experience the Alaska interior like never before
The Borealis Basecamp experience includes an active sampler of life in the Last Frontier. Launch into miles of wilderness on a dog sled or snowmobile, skim across the treetops on a flightseeing tour, or explore the boreal forest on foot. At the end of the day, return to your private igloo refreshed and physically energized by the wonders of Alaska’s longest season.

1-Hour Alaska Sled Dog Experience
Experience the ultimate Alaska adventure on our 1-Hour Alaska Sled Dog Experience. Mushing is Alaska’s state sport, and Borealis Basecamp guests can enjoy the thrill of dogsledding on a 45-minute ride. Guests travel through the Arctic boreal forest, learn about life on the trail from musher Dave Turner, winner of the 2019 Tustamena 200, and meet his beloved team of dogs.

1-Hour UTV/Snowmobile Tour
This tour is designed for everyone, regardless of prior experience. Our experienced guides will provide an introductory lesson to ensure you’re comfortable and confident. With top-notch gear included, you’ll be well-prepared to enjoy the adventure. Capture breathtaking photos and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the Alaska wilderness.

NOTE: Participants must be 16 or older to drive, and children 8 years and up can ride if their feet reach the running bars – check with the Adventure Center staff at check-in.

3-Hour UTV/Snowmobile Tour
Snowmobiles (known as snow machines in Alaska) and UTVs make ordinary backcountry travel feel like an adventure. Guests can take a 2-3 hour guided trip across the backcountry wilderness, with photo-op stops at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and other notable natural features along the trail. We also stop for a hot drink and a snack along the way. Every trip includes gear and an introductory lesson, plus a savvy guide to assist guests along every mile of the trip.

Sunset Snowcoach Tour
Experience the serene beauty of Alaska’s wilderness with our Sunset Snow Coach Tour. Enjoy a cozy ride in the heated cab of our modified Toyota Tundra as you traverse the fire break, an area rich with wildlife and scenic views. The tour culminates at a hilltop location, offering breathtaking sunsets and panoramic views of Denali, the highest mountain in North America. There, you can enjoy a glass of champagne and watch the sun set.

Aurora Portrait Photography Session
Capture the magic of the northern lights with our professional Aurora Portrait Photography Session. Let our expert photographer create stunning portraits of you and your loved ones under the aurora borealis. Enjoy a comfortable and memorable photo shoot of about 15 – 30 minutes. You receive 5 – 8 photos from your session!

Reindeer Meet & Greet
Embark on a magical encounter with our Reindeer Meet & Greet experience. Spend 30 minutes getting to know our resident Alaska-born reindeer, who live year-round at Basecamp. Learn about their life in the Arctic and enjoy the opportunity to feed and take photos with these majestic creatures.

Reindeer Walking Experience
From their habitat in the Arctic, reindeer have evolved over thousands of years to thrive in the harsh wintery climate. On this experience, you will learn how they live year-round in one of the most extreme places on Earth. Walk with 1 to 3 of these gentle creatures through the boreal forest and connect with nature! Finish off your tour with a visit with the whole herd.

6-Hour UTV/Snowmobiling Tour
Experience the White Mountains on this all-inclusive 4-6 hour long tour through the Alaska backcountry. Gear up with an experienced guide and ride UTVs or snowmobiles down the Trans-Alaska Pipeline until you reach scenic stops with views of Wickersham Dome, an incredible lookout point nestled in the White Mountains. Stop for a hot lunch & drinks before returning to Basecamp. This is our most physically demanding tour; previous snowmobile experience recommended.

Step into the Alaska backcountry with this 20 Minute Heli Flightseeing excursion. Epic aerial views of Basecamp. Enjoy the vast panoramas of Alaska’s Interior. Experience the Trans Alaska Pipeline from the air as you return back to Basecamp.

Helicopter Flightseeing With Landing
Soar into the Alaska backcountry on this Helicopter Flightseeing excursion. Fly over the Alaska interior’s epic landscapes. Land in pristine backcountry, enjoy our remote outpost, and the vast panoramas. Most tours experience wildlife sightings, which can include moose, wolves and more. Experience the Trans Alaska Pipeline from the air as you return to Basecamp.
NOTE: This tour includes 45 minutes of flight time and a 15-minute landing.

Arctic Circle Driving Tour
Our expert guide and photographer will pick you up from Borealis Basecamp for a day long adventure to the Arctic Circle. On this tour, relax and enjoy the view!
